Brad Garlinghouse speaks with the measured ease of a man who has learned to count the small losses as well as the small wins. XRP, he says, remains at the top of Ripple’s list even as the firm paves new streets for its operations. Ahead of XRP Community Day, the air is thick with promises of major announcements that might lend the token a little more usefulness, or at least something to talk about over lukewarm tea.
Ripple CEO Assures XRP Remains A Priority
In a post on X, Garlinghouse writes that the XRP family has, and always will have, a place at Ripple’s center. This comes after a gentleman named Mr. Man teased those who claim Ripple stays true to XRP as the bridge asset. He adds that the vision has not changed and the direction remains aligned, which is a very polite way of saying the same old charts are still being spun.
The CEO notes that he is glad the message is clearer, as they still regard XRP as a priority. This echoes his early-year proclamation that XRP has been and will be the heartbeat of their effort to create an Internet of Value, a phrase that sounds grand until you try to explain it to a skeptical clerk.
Meanwhile, Mr. Man alluded to Ripple’s institutional DeFi roadmap on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), where the token is cast as a settlement and bridge asset. Contrary to rumors that the RLUSD stablecoin might replace XRP, Ripple insists XRP remains the bridge between the stablecoin and other tokens, as if that were the only sane solution in a room full of diagrams and coffee cups.
Notably, Ripple’s former CTO, David Schwartz, also remarked that RLUSD cannot replace XRP as the bridge asset because XRP is more accepted worldwide and “jurisdictionless.” The firm further notes XRP’s role in base-layer mechanics, including reserve requirements, transaction fees, and bridging across FX and lending flows, which sounds impressive until you remember someone still owes you a receipt.
XRP Community Day Set To Hold Today And Tomorrow
Ripple announces that the long-awaited XRP Community Day is holding today and tomorrow. Today’s sessions cover the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) and AMER (Americas) regions, while tomorrow’s session focuses on the APAC (Asia-Pacific) region. Speakers will include Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple President Monica Long, Ripple Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Stuart Alderoty, and David Schwartz, because nothing says “fun” like a lineup of executives discussing future prospects over the sound of keyboards.
The company adds that the sessions will explore regulated XRP products, including existing institutional offerings, wrapped XRP, XRP Innovation Spotlights, and new features meant to expand XRP’s utility. The kind of talk that makes a person feel both hopeful and mildly exhausted.
The XRP Innovation Spotlight session will feature Ripple-backed XRP Treasury firm Evernorth, crypto exchange Gemini, and Wormhole, who will together demonstrate how they are using XRP today and outline their future plans and roadmaps. Bitwise’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Matt Hougan will participate in the session on XRP products, where they will discuss the growth of regulated XRP investment products, which is to say more paperwork and fewer surprises at the end of the month.
At the time of writing, the XRP price is trading around $1.38, down about 4% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
