Apparently, Marquis is the kind of software company that handles everything from customer data to marketing-and even, bizarrely, correctional facilities. Talk about a mixed bag of tricks! The hackers, perhaps encouraged by too much coffee and questionable passwords, managed to rummage through files dating back to August 14, 2025-back when they still thought it was a good idea to trust software and hackers. “Oops,” said Marquis, probably in a very British accent.

Meanwhile, over in Texas, VeraBank’s customers are also in the know-or rather, in the “know that their info might have been snitched.” 37,318 names and secrets potentially exposed, though VeraBank insists, “Don’t worry, folks. Our systems are still as safe as grandma’s cookie jar.” Still, the data breach is said to be confined to Marquis’s clubhouse, which might be small and fragile, or a very suspicious coincidence.
